Pound Cake

Mom, with our lifelong friend and satellite sister Peggy Miles Hulstine

Mom’s recipe … although she did have a serious weakness for Sara Lee’s version.

  • 2 sticks butter
  • 1 ¾ cup sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • Pinch salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • ¾ cup milk
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter and flour a Bundt pan, or two large loaf pans.

Cream butter and sugar; add eggs one at a time, beating after each. Add vanilla to milk, and baking powder and salt to flour; add milk and flour alternately to butter mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until toothpick inserted in center of cake comes out clean.
